"o" Musée du Louvre "o"

Le musée du Louvre, ancienne demeure des rois de France, est depuis deux siècles l'un des plus grands musées du monde. Ses collections sont réparties en 7 départements : Antiquités orientales, Antiquités égyptiennes, Antiquitésgrecques, étrusques et romaines ; Peintures, Sculptures, Objets d'art et Arts graphiques du Moyen Age jusqu'à 1850.Toujours en phase d'aménagement, le projet Grand Louvre sera totalement terminé en 1997. La première étapedu projet a été achevée en 1989 (ouverture du nouvel accès par la pyramide de verre de I.M. Pei et découverte desvestiges du Louvre médiéval). En 1993, l'aile Richelieu a été ouverte. Elle présente des sculptures françaises, des objetsd'art, des peintures des écoles du Nord et des peintures françaises (jusqu'au XVIIe siècle), des antiquités orientaleset l'art de l'islam. Parallèlement était inauguré le Carrousel du Louvre, grand espace souterrain avec boutiques - parcde stationnement - espaces d'expositions ou de manifestations prestigieuses. En octobre 1994, de nouvelles sallesprésentant les sculptures étrangères ont été inaugurées. Au cours de la dernière phase du projet de nombreusessalles seront réaménagées dans les ailes Sully et Denon du musée (avec notamment des antiquités égyptiennes,grecques, étrusques et romaines et des peintures italiennes) le Jardin des Tuileries sera rénové.

"o" Winnie the Pooh History "o"

Winnie the Pooh History In 1914, during World War 1, troops from Winnipeg (Manitoba, Canada) were being transported to eastern Canada on their way overseas to Europe. When the train stopped at White River, Ontario, there was a trapper standing on the platform with a bear cub. One of the soldiers who stepped off the train to take a break was Captain Harry Colebourn, a Canadian Army veterinarian. Colebourn bought the cub for $20.00 and named her "Winnipeg", or "Winnie" for short. Winnie became the mascot of the second Canadian Infantry Brigade and went to Britain with the unit. Unfortunately, when the Brigade was posted to the battlefields of France, Winnie could not go. She was placed instead with the London Zoo, in Regent's Park. Over the years the bear became very popular with the children and was well known for her playful nature. One little boy, in particular, was attracted to Winnie. The little boy's father (knowing of his son's attraction to the bear) would often tell him bedtime stories about the bear and a make-believe world. The little boy (Christopher Robin Milne) was a featured character in most of those stories. The little boy's father (A.A. Milne) went on to write a series of books about "Winnie-the-Pooh" (the bear from Winnipeg), Christopher Robin (his son), and their friends at "100-Aker Wood".
